Games to look out for in 2017 – Part 1

With 2016 now a distant memory, it's time to cast our eyes forward to the coming year. Here’s what’s on the slate for 2017 – provided nothing gets delayed, of course. Let's get excited!

For Honor

The best Valentine’s Day gift anyone could ever ask for. For Honor lets you play as a Viking, a knight, or a samurai, and it will even include a kick-ass multiplayer with a heap of customisation options. Can’t wait. Feb 14

Halo Wars 2

The Halo Wars series has always been adored by Halo fans as a departure from the first-person shooter formula, and a haven for those interested in the story while perhaps not fans of shooters. The second one is due to come out in Feb, and our new enemy is a brute named Atriox. Feb 21

Horizon Zero Dawn

This PlayStation exclusive stars Aloy – a female huntress that’s taking on the wilderness with nothing but a bow and arrow. Did we mention the wilderness is full of robot dinosaurs? It’s an open-world RPG from Guerilla Games, running on the same engine as Death Stranding. Mar 1.

ghostreconwildlands

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands

This is how Ubisoft closed out their E3 2015, and we’ve been waiting since then to play the darn thing. Generally, most games that feature Tom Clancy in the title pique our interest, and from the small amount that we managed to play at E3 last year in the Ubisoft booth, Ghost Recon Wildlands looks to be fitting that brief nicely. Mar 7

South Park: The Fractured But Whole

This one was supposed to come out in December, but slipped and fell on its butt. Having been privileged enough to experience The Fractured But Whole with the Nosulus Rift, it’s safe to say this sequel to The Stick of Truth will kick up quite a stink when it finally launches. Q1 2017

deathstranding

Death Stranding

You’re lying to yourself if you think you aren’t excited about this one. Death Stranding is Hideo Kojima’s first game since departing Konami and heading up his own studios, Kojima Productions. Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen both have starring roles, and that’s pretty much all anyone knows about it so far. We need it – yesterday. TBC

Scalebound

This Xbox exclusive has been waiting in the wings for a while now, and is tentatively scheduled for a 2017 release. Think Final Fantasy meets Monster Hunter meets another PlayStation 4 exclusive with a buddy system – it’s got unbelievable scale. You can even customise you dragons! TBC

You can check out part 2 here.
