Assassin’s Creed on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K April 12

Release Date:  12 April 2017
Format:  DVD  Blu-ray
Starring: Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons

This lavish, big budget adaptation of Ubisoft's best-selling video game franchise was assassinated by critics during its cinema run. However, viewers should take a leap of faith and trust us – Australian director Justin Kurzel (Snowtown, Macbeth) has done for video game movies what Christopher Nolan did for Batman comics, delivering a dark and dazzling fantasy-adventure grounded in the real world. Michael Fassbender plays a death row inmate who mind-melds with his 15th century Assassin ancestor using a device called the Animus – his mission being to retrieve a powerful artifact before the Knights Templar can use it to eliminate free will. Like a Dan Brown thriller packed with parkour, Assassin's Creed is a rare breed – a smart and sophisticated video game adaptation that's destined to find an appreciative audience on DVD and Blu-ray.

  1. As a fan of the Assassins Creed game franchise, I had high high hopes for this film, but also approached the film cautiously as I have been burned in the past with films such as The last Air bender, Doom and even Star Wars Rogue One. In this instance I was not disappointed. I saw this with 9 other friends we left that Cinema extremely happy, and relieved with this movie, its an excellent representation of the Assassins Creed Universe and I am so happy and grateful that they made this film. I don't really know why the reviews were so harsh from critics if all they watched was this movie. I suspect that many critics took their issues of the video game franchise and aired them about the movie, claiming the modern day story and character had similar issues to the games ones. This simply isn't true. The characters in this movie felt Gritty, dangerous and real. I absolutely loved this movie and I have now watched it several times. It holds up very well on repeat viewings which a lot of films do not do and i will watch it many more times in the future. In regards to real everyday people who have seen this film, I have not actually met a person who hasn't liked it. I have discussed this movie with dozens of people face to face who have seen it and the lowest score i have been given from anyone was a 3/5. generally people have told me its a 4.5 or 5/5. It seems to me and everyone i have actually spoken to that the keyboard warrior minority got it wrong, jumping on a whinging bandwagon to get you tube hits or page views rather than fairly reviewing this film. If you like action, History or the Assassins Creed games, definitely take the time to watch this film. The action, music and story are great, Fassbender really put in a great effort here as did Jeremy Irons and the others and it is a well rounded, well made film. This film deserved a better response from critics than it got and is absolutely worth watching. I give it 4.5 / 5.

Good to hear, Mr. Suntail. I was worried I was the only one who actually liked Assassin's Creed!
