Shock Therapy – 5 creepy clinics

The Volmer Institute in A Cure for Wellness is the latest in a number of creepy clinics in horror movies that offer progressive and unorthodox therapies that end in madness, mutilation and mutation. Here are five more insidious institutions that will cure you of your wellness – forever!

THE KELOID CLINIC – Rabid

Located on the outskirts of Montreal, the Keloid Clinic is a private institution specialising in cosmetic surgery. But you might be better off heading for Thailand for a face lift, especially after an experimental skin graft procedure creates a vampiric organ in the armpit of a patient that unleashes a rabies epidemic.

THE JEFFERSON INSTITUTE – Coma

Suspect by its very appearance, this medical facility cares for coma patients transferred from Boston Memorial Hospital, suspending them by wires to prevent bedsores, and also harvesting their organs for the black market.

VIMUVILLE – Body Melt

The residents of a Melbourne suburb are used as guinea pigs for a health company's revolutionary new dietary supplement – side effects include hallucinations, bodily meltdown and predatory placentas.

THE SOMAFREE INSTITUTE - The Brood

This is where psychotherapist Hal Raglan practices "psychoplasmics" – a new form of therapy that encourages patients with anger management problems to physically manifest their rage, which can take the form of skin lesions or a brood of murderous toddlers.

THE CLINIC – The Clinic

This sinister institution, located in an outback cattle station, abducts pregnant women, steals their unborn children, and forces the mothers to compete in a deadly game of survival.
