It looks as if the film version of the Slenderman internet horror phenomenon is starting to take shape.
According to Hollywood Reporter, Sylvain White (Stomp The Yard) has signed on to direct Slender Man, which is expected to be released in 2018. Plot details have still to be announced but the film will be based on the popular horror meme which first appeared in 2009 and depicts a lanky faceless figure in a black suit who stalks children.
If you want to learn more about the character, keep any eye out for the forthcoming HBO documentary Beware The Slenderman, which examines the chilling 2014 case in which two 12-year-old American girls lured a friend into the Wisconsin woods and stabbed her 19 times in an effort to appease the faceless mythical entity. The documentary premieres in the US on January 23.
